Her practice spans a wide range of disciplines, including handwoven sisal tapestries, silk reliefs, textile tiles and mixed-media collages. Each work is marked by refined attention to material, subtle use of colour and a strong focus on texture and form.
De Bock’s work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private and corporate collections across Europe. She regularly collaborates with architects and interior designers on site-specific installations and bespoke commissions, integrating her creations seamlessly into contemporary architecture.
Central to her practice is a deliberate choice for sustainable materials and craft techniques. She works primarily with natural fibres such as sisal, silk, wool and handmade paper, exploring their intrinsic qualities and embracing their imperfections.
Vision
My work is guided by a deep respect for materials and traditional craft techniques. I believe that by understanding and honouring the inherent qualities of natural fibres, we can create works that are both contemporary and timeless.
Each piece begins with the material itself — its texture, its colour, its behaviour. Through a process of experiment and refinement, the finished work emerges as a dialogue between intention and material possibility.
Process
I work primarily by hand, using traditional weaving and construction techniques passed down through generations of textile craftspeople. This slow, meditative process allows a level of detail and quality that industrial methods cannot achieve.
I select materials with great care, favouring natural and sustainably produced fibres. The choice of materials is as important as the making process itself and forms an integral part of the creation.
